WordPress 4.3 Update

So WordPress 4.3 is here…but is it safe to upgrade? Even though this site is brand new, we haven’t hit the upgrade yet. We need to make sure that upgrading to this version of WordPress isn’t going to break or soon to be greatest WordPress website in the world!

WordPress 4.3 named “Billie” in honor of jazz singer Billie Holiday, is now available and you can learn more about it watching this short WordPress release video.

Other stated improvements with version 4.3 are:

• A smoother admin experience – Refinements to the list view across the admin make your WordPress more accessible and easier to work with on any device.
• Comments turned off on pages – All new pages that you create will have comments turned off. Keep discussions to your blog, right where they’re supposed to happen.
• Customize your site quickly – Wherever you are on the front-end, you can click the customize link in the toolbar to swiftly make changes to your site.

Other main focus points are related to resetting passwords:

Resetting Your Password received attention and 4.3 improves the way that passwords are chosen and changed. You start out with a strong password by default and you are given the option to keep it or choose your own. A password strength meter is available as well as the option to hide your password from prying eyes. You will find the new password interface on the password reset screen and the WordPress install screen. WordPress will no longer send passwords via email and the password reset links will expire in 24 hours. Finally, e-mail notifications will be sent out in the event that an e-mail or password is changed.

So now that there is a new version of WordPress we are going to update our site…but many people need to confirm that the theme they are using, and the plugins they have installed will play nice with the version 4.3 of WordPress.
